HAeX Practical AI Governance Solutions

AI Governance and Compliance Services for Safer AI Deployment

AI governance is the set of policies, checks and accountability that keep the AI a business uses safe, lawful and under control. It covers what your AI is allowed to do, what data it can touch, who is responsible when it goes wrong, and how you prove all of that to a regulator. HAeX provides AI governance and compliance consulting to UK businesses, building the guardrails in from the start rather than after something has gone wrong. We build AI, so we know exactly where it needs governing.

The gap between “we're using AI” and “we can stand behind it”

Everyone is shipping AI. Almost nobody can answer the hard questions about it.

The pressure to adopt AI is enormous, so businesses are adopting it. Tools go live, staff start using assistants, a chatbot goes on the website, AI gets woven into a process. The build side is racing ahead.

Now try answering the questions that come after. What data did that AI see, and was it allowed to? If it gave a customer a wrong or biased answer, who is accountable, and can you show what happened? If a regulator asked you to explain how your AI makes a decision, could you? If an employee pasted client information into a public tool last week, would you even know?

For most businesses the honest answer to all of those is a shrug. Not because anyone was careless, but because governance was never anyone’s job. The build had an owner. The risk did not. And that gap sits there quietly until the day an output goes wrong, a client asks for your AI policy during due diligence, or a regulator comes calling, at which point it stops being quiet very quickly.

AI governance closes that gap before it costs you. It is the unglamorous work of deciding what your AI may do, what it may touch, who answers for it, and how you prove all of that, done before you need the answers rather than during a crisis.

Everyone is shipping AI. Almost nobody can answer the hard questions about it.

Why us

Governance from the people who actually build the AI

Most AI governance advice comes from one of two places: management consultants who have never built an AI system, or compliance specialists who treat AI as just another policy to write. Both produce documents. Neither tends to understand where AI actually goes wrong, because they have never had to build around it.

We come at it from the other side. HAeX builds AI systems, automations, agents, chatbots, integrations, for UK businesses. We have seen where models produce confident nonsense, where access gets granted too broadly, where a system quietly starts making decisions nobody signed off. So our governance is not theoretical. It is built from knowing, concretely, what breaks and how to catch it.

That also means we are honest in a way a pure compliance firm cannot be. We will tell you which risks are real and which are hype, so you spend your effort where it actually matters instead of papering over everything equally.

We build AI, so we govern from experience, not theory.
Proportionate, real risks addressed properly, hype ignored.
Plain-English risk, rated and prioritised, not a wall of caveats.
Practical, guardrails that work in the actual system, not just on paper.

Why HAeX

The AI agency that builds AI and governs it

Most AI agencies sell you the build and leave the risk with you. We think that is backwards. HAeX started on the talent side of AI and now builds AI systems for UK businesses, and governance is not a side offering for us, it is how we think every AI project should be done.

Having placed more than 200 AI specialists and built AI across regulated sectors, we know both how the technology works and where it gets businesses into trouble. That combination, builders who take the risk seriously, is genuinely hard to find, and it is exactly what a careful business needs. Our AI governance consulting and wider AI governance services cover the whole picture, from a single policy to a full artificial intelligence governance programme.

Frequently asked questions

AI governance is the set of policies, checks and accountability that keep the AI a business uses safe, lawful and under control. In practice it covers what your AI is allowed to do, what data it can touch, who is responsible when something goes wrong, and how you prove all of that to a regulator or client. It is the difference between using AI and being able to stand behind how you use it.

Compliance is meeting the specific rules that apply to you, such as the EU AI Act or GDPR. Governance is the broader system that keeps your AI safe, fair and accountable, of which compliance is one part. You can be technically compliant and still have poorly governed AI; good governance gets you compliance and more.

Very likely yes, and this is the most common blind spot. The moment staff put company or customer information into any AI tool, you have data-governance and policy questions to answer, whoever built the tool. You do not need to be building your own AI to need governance; you need it the moment your people start using AI at all.

It can. The EU AI Act reaches beyond the EU's borders, so a UK business serving customers or users in the EU may fall within scope. Whether it applies to you, and what you must do, depends on how you use AI. Working that out clearly is part of what we do, and our EU AI Act guide covers it in plain English.

Done badly, anything slows you down. Done well, governance speeds you up, because it removes the uncertainty that makes careful businesses hesitate and gives clients and investors the answers they need to say yes. We build governance to be proportionate, real risks addressed, hype ignored, so it protects you without smothering the work.

Far less than the fine, lawsuit or lost client it prevents. A risk assessment is a fixed fee, a policy is a small piece of work, and ongoing consulting is scoped to your size. We will tell you honestly at the free consultation whether you need a full programme or just a couple of sensible controls.
